Andi Spyral is the artist behind the inspiration piece called “Decembersville”. The zany and unique piece looks like nothing else I’ve ever seen. Her artwork is unique and one of a kind.
The illustration is portraying the characters within her story. The piece is a very sketchy yet clean work with organic shapes of all kinds. The colors within the work is rather dark with slight bright colors in it like the blonde hair of the girl Sophia on the bottom. Also with some pastel colors like the fading pink and blue surrounding the picture. The utencils she uses is Prisma Color markers with Crayola colored pencils. Now sense of space is a whole different story. IN the middle of the piece is very crowded yet in an organized kind of way until you reach the edges of the artwork where it’s very spacey and not much to it like everything is facing away sort of.
Now the picture really doesn’t have a meaning. It was just meant to be a poster for her story called “Decembersville”, but there is a mood to the piece. The mood is exciting but intense I think because in the story the small blonde headed girl is stuck in a world of freaks that want to kill her and only a small amount of freaks want to save her but she is stuck in the world of freaks as well. So the drawing portrays a sort of intense feeling that shows the dangers around her.
I think this piece is simply amazing. The way Andi blends the colors together and how everything works so well together just blows me away. To begin with, she is my main inspiration of art so everything she does is just so unique and creative. So the reason I picked this to be my main inspirational piece is because I want to portray my characters like this in the animation; intensely. I want everything to work with each other with excited like she did with her characters in the picture.
